The Postilion Restaurant and Bar is situated in the idyllic village of Bowness on lake Windermere in the Lake District, a picture post card setting. The Postilion Restaurant and Bar is located on Ash Street, a quaint cobbled street, free of traffic, just two minutes' walk away from the lake in the heart of Bowness. We use a variety of suppliers (local as much as possible) to ensure the freshest ingredients, so that the quality of our food is always at its best.

This year, we open our doors for the 19th season. We are one of the longest established restaurants in the village, In addition to our stylish restaurant, we have a comfortable lounge bar upstairs where you can look at our delicious menus and also review our extensive wine list (which happens to be the largest restaurant lists in the area) and enjoy an aperitif before dinner. Alternatively, the bar is a place to relax with coffee after dinner. Even if you only have time for a drink, our bar is the perfect place.

Our aim is for you to have a completely pleasurable experience in relaxed and comfortable surroundings. Whether you join us for a quick coffee, a spot of lunch, just a drink or a splash out extravagant dinner, you will be made to feel extremely welcome and will no doubt be planning your return visit before you leave.

We can also arrange a dinner event for your business and guarantee excellent food, good service and a unique atmosphere at uninflated prices. The Postilion is fully air conditioned.
